Just Beginning
- Family Photos: Add family photos to FamilySearch Memories (app or website), scrapbooks, social media, etc., or locate and then digitize family photographs.
- FamilySearch: Log on to the FamilySearch app or website and explore your family tree.
Or help a family member or friend log on and explore. Your ChurchofJesusChrist.org login credentials automatically provide access to FamilySearch. - Recipes: Look up, save, and then prepare recipes from your ancestral homeland, or talk to a relative about your traditional family meals
- Family Moments: Take a cell phone video to capture a special moment with your family, then make sure it’s saved for the future on a computer or external hard drive.
- Temple Attendance: Set a goal, make a plan, and then attend the temple.
Easy
- Record Your Own Stories: Write out your own stories or life history, or record your stories or life history on an audio or video recording.
- Tell Stories: Arrange a time to meet with family members, especially children or grandchildren, to share stories about your life. For example, this could be done as part of a Family Home Evening or Come Follow Me lesson at home. You could reach out to other families to share your stories with them as well.
- Teach Family History: Share how to start a personal history or conduct family history research as part of a home evening or Come Follow Me lesson.
- Record Others’ Stories: Contact grandparents or other relatives and audio or video record their stories about their family, youth, school, and other experiences.
- Invite Others to Help You: Invite the ward temple and family history consultants to meet with or teach you about FamilySearch and other genealogical resources.
Challenging
- Plan a family reunion
- Plan a family trip (vacations, education or Church history trip, or a trip to do service)
- Add names to your FamilySearch tree
- Watch the training videos found in the “Help” section of the FamilySearch website
- Learn how to print a name from FamilySearch to take to the temple
- Plan and organize a family temple trip to do baptisms for the dead
- Gather people to go to the temple together (family, friends, ward members, neighbors)
- Contact a temple and family history consultant to learn how to Index or Review names on FamilySearch
- Get DNA testing to learn about your ancestry
- Visit your ancestral homeland or show your children or other families where you grew up
- Print your Pedigree (“Fan Chart”) from FamilySearch and hang it on the wall
Children & Youth
